Magick Rituals And How They Work

Magick rituals are used by Wiccans, ceremonial mages, neo-pagans, and other practitioners in the Western Tradition of mysticism. The word “magick”, as opposed to “magic”, was first coined by Aleister Crowley in the early 20th century. He was a (in)famous and controversial figure, and remains so to this day. Despite that, he has had a massive influence over the form and terminology of magick in the West.

Prior to Crowley, it was common practice in magick to call forth spiritual beings and bind them within a magical seal. The wizard or witch would also be within a second protective circle, in case the spirit broke free of the mystical prison. The magick user would negotiate with the being or forcibly bind it into service. Either way, it was an extremely risky proposition.
